A hand ground organic beef burger with hand tossed coleslaw, melted Jarlsberg and smoked gouda cheeses, caramelized onions and brioche bun infiltrates the taste buds. You may not find a burger of this caliber in your neighborhood burger joint. Some things can only be done at home.
1 lb Organically Grass Fed Delmonico Beef Steak
2 Brioche Buns
Homemade Cole Slaw (see Cole Slaw Recipe below)
2 Slices of Smoked Gouda Cheese
2 Slices of Jarlsberg Cheese
1 Large Sliced Caramelized Vidalia Onion
4 Slices of Thick Sliced Hickory Smoked Bacon (grilled well done)
2 Tsp Mayo (1 for each Burger)
Make the cole slaw and caramelize the onions, grill the bacon and set aside. Grind your beef on the smallest grind setting. Make Patties to your desired size (in this recipe the burgers were on the thick side. Season each side with black pepper and seasoning salt.
Place burgers on the griddle – cook for 5 minutes on each side, reduce the heat and add the cheeses (1 Jarlsberg and 1 Smoked Gouda to each Burger) cover for 30 seconds and remove them with a spatula.
Buns – Place the buns in the oven face up under the broiler for 2 minutes or less just to lightly brown them. Put mayo and caramelized onions on the bottom bun and add the CheeseBurger. Then add the coleslaw and 2 Slices of bacon to the top of the burger and finally add the Top Brioche Bun and completely enjoy.
We suggest you enjoy your burger with an icy cold Coca Cola and for your side home cooked potato fries with chopped onion fries in olive oil(recipe for homemade fries coming soon).
Cole Slaw Recipe:
1 c. Shredded Green Cabbage
1 c. Shredded Red Cabbage
1/2 c. mayonaise
2 tablespoons of white sugar
1 tablespoon white vinegar
1/4 tsp salt
dash of black pepper
1 pinch of salt
mix all of these ingredients together in a small bowl to taste.
