If you like the idea of gardening, you will love this article, because it’s an amazing feeling to pull those weeds and plan your flower placement.
Starting your garden takes time, patience, planning, creativity and more patience, in plain english, lots of waiting.
Remembering how it felt when I first went out there and it all seemed pretty hopeless, a flower here and there. But in no time I just got the hang of it and it is becoming second nature.
You may also agree once you get started, that it is a constant learning experience, well, you learn something new each season, like a flower you’ve never heard of while shopping at the nursery buying your yearly favorites.
There are new welcome visitors each year, like the beautiful hummingbirds that start to visit when you put out the Zinnias in the flower pots around the yard, and the flashy butterflies.
The Flower labels will normally detail the birds and butterflies that they attract, this will be a big help as you decide what you should buy.
5 EASY TIPS TO PLAN YOUR GARDEN
1. PERENNIALS
Perennials are a favorite of ours because of the ease of planting once, enjoying forever. There are so many different varieties to choose from and they all have different needs. You can find a great selection here.
2. ANNUALS
Annuals are nice because they’re beautiful and planting them gives a nice excuse to play in the dirt. They give so much reward when they are situated nicely in their chosen place for the season, and also, if you didn’t really love the way they were positioned you have the ease of just making a different plan for the next time. Find an amazing array of annuals here.
3. HERBS
Fresh herbs have become one of our favorite things to grow and eat. Growing up we never had fresh herbs to add to our food. But my grandmother would have mint leaves growing on the side of her house that she used to add to tea and the smell of mint was amazing.
You can find starter herb plants at your local gardening store. We plant them outside on our deck. They have so many different planters based on your individual style. Be sure to keep them watered.
4. FRUIT & VEGGIES
Vegetables & Fruit are pretty new for us. Gardening has never been more exciting than it is now that we have added fresh vegetables to our line up.
We have the ability to grow our food and prepare it and there is just such a great reward that goes into that. These vegetables, honestly, whichever you prefer can be grown in your garden or in a beautiful pot on the deck.
People are doing really fun things with their gardens these days and there is really no limit to what you can do and grow.
One thing I can highly, highly recommend is purchasing a pair of garden gloves that go all the way past your elbows, that’s right, not your wrist, your elbow, poison oak is not a joke, and we’re really not trying to rhyme.
These gloves were given as a gift and while they don’t go past my elbows. They go beyond my wrists, and I just wear long sleeves while working in the garden. They’re very beautiful and add to the enjoyment of working in the soil.
It’s pretty hard to find gloves at your local gardening store that has this much flair but style sometimes cost ya something.
